Bahamas Recap + Recommendations

We just got back from our annual summer family vacation to the Bahamas (specifically, Elbow Cay) and we had the best time!

We stayed at Firefly Resort and cannot recommend it enough! I will say that you do need to book early as it is a fairly small resort. We absolutely loved the size of the resort because our kids were able to have a little independence and we felt totally safe with them running around.

If you go tell Milo we said hi! He is the resident dog.

I highly recommend renting a boat for your trip, it is so much fun for the whole family and really added to the experience of our overall trip. Snorkeling at mermaid reef was also a huge hit and the kids (and myself) loved going to see the swimming pigs.

For traveling with kids best places to eat were Grabbers Bar & Grill and Pete’s Pub. There were so many fun activities for them and really good food. It was a very family friendly setting, which was so important to us for this trip.

I would also suggest the Abaco Inn. It has great old school charm and the service is excellent.

This was the easiest trip ever to pack for. Seriously, just bring your flip flops, snorkeling gear, bathing suits, and a whole lot of sunscreen. It is a very casual area. You can literally eat anywhere in a bathing suit and cover up, even at night. I would bring a few comfortable dresses or shorts outfits, but overall it was a very low-key outfit kind of vacation (Not like Italy! Stay tuned for that blog post!).
